Interpretation Early Gustav Stickley 1902 Cupboard design.

Interpreted design from Gustave Stickley's 1902 illustration in the "Things Wrought" catalogue. Features pinned mortise and tenon construction, flush tenons on sides, beveled top, paneled sides and back, inverted-v apron, and hand-hammered hardware. No compromises with this bold yet graceful design from the early work of Gustave Stickley. Production volume during the early years was limited and many designs have been discovered in numbers under a dozen and as low as one or two.

To our knowledge, after over 20 years of buying, restoring and selling Arts and Crafts antique furniture nationally, this particular early design has not yet surfaced. In recent years, original early Gustave Stickley forms, similar in design to this cupboard, have sold for over $200,000.00. We calculated measurements from the illustration and also the dimensions from an original early Gustave Stickley wardrobe which had common design elements such as the over 1 5/8" thick paneled sides, flush tenons, inverted-v apron and beveled top.

The cupboard shown is finished in the early dark color typical of much, but not all, of the early work. Available in various colors and woods. The design can be modified to fit your particular use and space. Measures 72" tall by 63 3/4" wide by 22 1/2" deep at the top. The body measures 60 3/4" wide by 20 3/4" deep.
